How to Identify and Attract Your Ideal Client
In this episode of Brand + Design Scoop, I share information on how to identify your ideal client, how to write a client persona, and how to use that information to attract your ideal client.
Identifying your ideal client helps you reach the people who really want to work with you, who are happy to pay you, and whom you will really enjoy working with.
Here is what you need to know about your ideal client:
Their wants and needs
Their goals
Their fears
Where they go for information
What they want from you
How they make their buying decisions
You should also identify their basic demographics:
Age range. This can be what generation they’re in, what decade, or even a specific number
Their income range
Where they live—what country, what city (if you’re local), whether they’re urban, suburban, or rural
Whether they’re married, single, widowed, divorced
What industry that they’re in
Sometimes race or ethnicity matters
Sometimes sexual orientation matters
Their psychographics—their interests, hobbies, beliefs, and attitudes
Once you have all this information, you’ll create a client persona. A client persona is a short description of who your ideal client is that contains their basic demographics, what their problem is, what they’re looking for, how you help them, and where they’re going for information/where you can find them. Write your client persona as a one-paragraph narrative.
Use your client persona when designing your website, creating content, and sharing on social media.
